This Conference is dedicated to Padma Shri Onkar Nath Srivastava

Prof. O. N. Srivastava was an Indian material physicist, an Emeritus professor of Banaras Hindu University and the vice president for India and South Asia of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy, who was known for his contributions to the disciplines of nanotechnology and hydrogen energy. He was the author of two books and over 440 scientific papers and a recipient of several honors including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the highest Indian award in the science and technology categories. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honor of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to science and engineering.

Scope of conference

Hydrogen Energy research in India has recently gained significant attention after the Honourable Prime Minister has initiated the National Green Hydrogen Energy Mission in 15th August 2021. However, Hydrogen Energy Research in India was initially started by Padma Shri (late) Prof. O.N. Srivastava 30 years ago in Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Prof. O.N.S has developed the world’s first hydrogen fuelled motorbike and he is also known as the Hydrogen Man of India. He has created a Hydrogen Energy Centre in BHU. The centre has developed hydrogen fuelled two, three and four wheelers. The hydrogen energy centre in BHU is currently developing new materials for green hydrogen production and hydrogen storage applications. This conference is being planned to bring in experts working in various technological application materials on a single platform for sharing their expertise, views and experiences on all aspects of materials during the third death anniversary of Prof. O.N.S. The primary focus shall be to invite senior scientists as plenary speakers who can guide the young researchers and students to take up further research. Students and young researchers shall be allowed to present posters/ oral talks.
